JOSEPH HACHEM’S VICTORY IN THE MAIN EVENT of the 2005 WSOP launched a Moneymaker-like poker boom in Australia. Droves of aspiring poker stars started showing up at the Crown Casino in Melbourne to play in the Aussie Millions every January, and previously unknown Aussie players started taking home six- and seven-figure paydays in major tournaments overseas. In a word, poker was hot.

Well, speaking of hot in Australia, Simone Starr is quickly becoming one of the most captivating models that country had ever produced. First discovered while vacationing on Australia’s Gold Coast when she was just 15 years old, Starr won her first beauty pageant two years later. Then in 2002, she came out on top in Gillette’s “Look of the Year” competition. She went on to be named one of FHM Magazine’s “100 Sexiest Women of the World” three years in a row.

Starr calls modeling “the main focal point of my life,” but her charm and good looks soon led to other opportunities, namely in television. For a while she hosted FOXXSTER, a European TV show that took a behind-the-scenes look at the lifestyles of some of the world’s hottest DJs. She proved to be perfect for the job, as she has always harbored her own musical aspirations. Known nearly as well for her voice as for her body, Starr collaborated with such award-winning producers as DJ Ruff, David Tort, and Ollie Goedsike (D.O.N.S.) to record her first album.

Currently, Starr is serving as the face of the Ed Hardy clothing line. When she isn’t traveling the world, she can generally be found at her house in Sydney. “I love being at home,” she confessed. “I love the serenity of my surroundings here. When I’m home, I barely leave the house.”
